SPECIAL OLYMPICS OKLAHOMA TEAM, FIGHTING PEACOCKS, WIN GOLD MEDAL AT 2022 USA GAMES


Part-time USA Softball National Office staff member and SOOK athlete, Logan Doughty, sat down for an interview with the Fighting Peacocks to get to know the team and hear about their gold medal experience.
Recently crowned as the 2022 USA Games Champion in the sport of softball, the Fighting Peacocks of Special Olympics Oklahoma (SOOK) recorded a 5-0 record through the tournament to earn its second gold medal finish in five years.
“Special Olympics is amazing, and it teaches you so much – patience, love, and understanding. I absolutely love seeing them achieve what they’ve worked so hard for by getting the gold and walking across the stage. It’s an overwhelming feeling every time and I’m always so proud of them.”

NATIONAL SOFTBALL HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2022 SET TO BE HONORED AT USA SOFTBALL ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING


USA Softball will honor the National Softball Hall of Fame Class of 2022 in Shreveport, La. this November as they will be recognized for their accomplishments, history-making moments and milestones that helped shaped the sport of softball. The group of eleven inductees includes Slow Pitch legends Rusty Bumgardner, Christan Dowling and Brett Helmer, Men’s and Women’s Fast Pitch greats George Nokes, Jeff Peck, Debbie Doom and Cat Osterman, dedicated USA Softball umpire Jeff Hansen, longtime USA Softball coach Steve Shortland, and committed USA Softball supporters Mike De Leo and Al Savala.
The esteemed group will be officially enshrined in the National Softball Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Shreveport Convention Center in Louisiana. The 41st annual National Softball Hall of Fame induction ceremony will kick off with a happy hour reception at 5 p.m. CT followed by dinner and the program. For those not able to attend, the ceremony will be live streamed on USASoftball.com.
THE 91ST USA SOFTBALL ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING
Each year, USA Softball conducts an Annual Council Meeting where members from across the country come together for a week of meetings to evaluate the needs of the organization, award National Championship hosts and discuss proposed rule and code changes for all divisions of USA Softball.
